Popsie specialises in accessories with a difference - creatively designed, carefully produced accessories for all sizes! Fashionable beads and necklaces alongside a range of matching jewellery, soft luxurious scarves and wraps ("pashminas"), and spunky, trendy handbags - the perfect accessory to make that special outfit a room stopper!

When Pamela Robbie looked around for a new venture she turned to something she had been doing all her life - using her flair for design and difference to dress up and dress others. While her children were growing and she worked in the family business, Pamela also pursued her passion for creating unique clothing and crafts.

"At school I was probably my sewing teacher's worst nightmare as all I wanted to do was knit! Later my aunt taught me to crochet, I enrolled in a stretch sewing course and spent a lot of time fiddling with various creative projects. All of that gave me enough basic knowledge to get out a sketch pad, start improvising and making my own designs."

Pamela's critical eye is central to the business. From Europe to Africa and China, she forages in out of the way stores, markets and factories to find accessories that stand out for their quality and difference.Initially it was Pamela's family and friends who benefited from her flair but Pamela is now using that talent to make accessories from far flung corners of the world available to discerning customers.

Back at her home, on the hills bordering the rich Heretaunga Plains in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, Pamela adds her own creative touches and briefs staff in the product's country of origin, who oversee production and manufacturing. Accessories always come back to Popsie for a final quality check.

"There is nothing mass produced about Popsie accessories," says Pamela. "You are very unlikely to see anyone else wearing one of our items." In a world where just about everything is off the rack and you see the same items everywhere you go, customers tell us that Popsie is refreshingly different.

That novel flavour is everywhere in the business, even its name! Popsie was an affectionate term Pamela's father used when he was courting her mother and has gone on to be a term of endearment for the whole family.

Popsie's range of select accessories is constantly changing, with new lines added each season.

New Zealanders are known for their flair and creativity - it comes from being a nation of pioneers. If you couldn't find something in the shops, you went home and made it yourself.
